Tallest man in Iran living in West Azarbaijan village

Miandoab, Dec 15, IRNA-The tallest man in Iran, Safar Qorbani, who has a height of 2.15 meters, resides in a village near the town of Miandoab in this northwestern province. Qorbani told IRNA that his abnormal growth is continuing.

The 35-year-old man, who resides in Gol Soleymanabad near Miandoab, is married and earns a living from a shop that he owns.

"Some 20 years ago, as a young adult, I used to live in the city.

After our area was subjected to air raids by Iraqi warplanes, I was very frightened and later noticed that my thyroid and hypothalamus glands were growing abnormally which I believe explains why I am very tall and still growing taller," he added.

He noted that although he has had several surgeries and had been treated by various physicians in the provincial capital of Orumiyeh and the capital of East Azarbaijan province, Tabriz, his abnormal growth is continuing.

Qorbani expressed appreciation for the help extended by members of his family, particularly his wife and brother, in coping with his daily chores.
