Tehran, Dec 19, IRNA-An earthquake measuring 3.8 on the Richter scale hit the city of Mehran in the western province of Ilam in the wee hours of Monday.
According to the seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the quake occurred at 02:33 hours local time (23:03 GMT on Sunday).
The tremor was registered in an area measuring 46.56 degrees in longitude and 33.21 degrees in latitude, the report added.
There are no reports of any casualty or damage to property caused by the quake.
Quakes of varying magnitudes often occur in Iran, which is situated on some of the world's most active seismic faultlines.
