Tehran, Dec 21, IRNA-Majlis has accepted Defense Minister Mostafa- Mohammad Najjar's call for month-long suspension of his impeachment to enable the gathering of necessary proof and evidence on causes of the C130 plane crash south of Tehran on December 6.
Majlis Speaker Gholam Ali Haddad-Adel told parliamentarians at the end of the open session of Majlis on Wednesday that lawmakers' call for suspension of the impeachment means discarding the issue from the parliament's agenda, so there will not be any open session next week.
Member of the Majlis Minority Commission Bijan Shahbazkhani told the house on Wednesday that deputies have not withdrawn the call for impeachment but welcomed the extension of the impeachment date to help clarification of the case so that similar incidents are not repeated in future.
"We have not withdrawn the impeachment motion and have neither called for ignoring signatures; but we agree with your morning decision based on which you discarded impeachment from next week's agenda; we will no longer call for impeachment if we come to a conclusion in the one month but this does not mean withdrawing the impeachment motion," he said.
The impeachment extension call had reportedly turned into a row in Majlis Wednesday session among deputies calling for impeachment, the Majlis presiding body and certain leading members of the fraction of fundamentalists.
Majlis representative from Boyer-Ahmad and Dena Sattar Hedayatkhah said that impeachment will not be logical as long as not enough investigation has been made on the air crash and those culpable have not been identified.
Hedayatkhah cautioned the audience against politicizing the issue, saying all should take lessons from the past and avoid factionalist approach towards the key and vital issues of the country.
Member of the Minority Fraction Iraj Nadimi said the one month extension of the impeachment was a wise move since no immature action will be at work.
Another member of the Fraction Qodratollah Alikhani criticized Haddad-Adel for discarding impeachment from Majlis agenda 'ignoring the call of those seeking the impeachment'.
He said his Fraction has not withdrawn the call for the impeachment.
Member of the Central Council of Fundamentalists' Fraction at Majlis Ahmad Tavakoli told reporters impeachment of defense minister is a completely politicized move, otherwise it should have followed its legal course.
A Lockheed C130 Hercules transport workhorse, said to have technical problems, crashed into a 10-story high-rise block several hundred meters away of Tehran International Mehrabad Airport immediately after take off on December 6, resulting in the martyrdom of 108 people, mostly journalists.
The pilot of the plane had been changed before the flight -- a claim dismissed by deputy chief of joint staff of army Brigadier General Mohammad-Hassan Namid who insisted the plane had been flown by the first pilot and there had been no pilot change.
Three aviation technicians have joined the 29-member fact-finding team already assigned with the duty to find out the root causes of the incident.
Member of Majlis Development Commission Ali-Akbar Aqaie told reporters on Wednesday the group of three technicians have been chosen on the belief that the bid will further contribute to information sharing between the military and civilian experts.
Regarding absence of any black box in the C130 planes, the most important vacuum in related research and investigation is the faults in flight information, he added.
