Iran: Quakes jolts Qaen in South Khorasan province

Tehran, Dec 27, IRNA-An earthquake measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale shook the city of Qaen in South Khorasan province on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Khorasan Seismological Network affiliated to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the quake occurred at 14:36 hours local time (11:06 GMT).

The epicenter of the quake was located at 59.88 degrees east in longitude and 33.53 degrees north in latitude, the report added.

Earlier, an earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale shook the city on Tuesday at noon.

According to the Khorasan Seismological Network affiliated to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the quake occurred at 12:07 hours local time (08:37 GMT).

There is no report of any casualty or damage to property.

Quakes of varying magnitudes often occur in Iran, which is situated on some of the world's most active seismic fault-lines.
