Tehran, Dec 27, IRNA-An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the open-ended Richter scale jolted the town of Lali, in the southwestern province of Khuzestan, on Tuesday.

According to the provincial seismological network affilliated to Tehran University's Geophysics Institute, the tremor occurred at 2:45 hours local time (11:15 GMT).

Lali is in the northeastern part the province.

No report of any probable damage or casualty caused by the tremor has been received.
