Fajr-e Sepassi defeats Persepolis 4-1; Parvin steps down

Tehran, Dec 30, IRNA-Fajr-e Sepassi thrashed the red-shirted Persepolis 4-1 in the 16th week of the fifth Iran Pro League in front of home fans in Azadi Stadium, west of Tehran, Friday.

Mohsen Faraji and Gholam-Reza Rezaei were the heroes of visitor, who scored two goals apiece.

Faraji put the Shirazi team ahead in the 13th minute with a header from close range and Rezaei made it 3-0 as he found the net in the 24th and 31st minutes.

Persepolis pulled one back on 45 minutes as striker Javad Kazemian stretched to send the ball past live-wire keeper Hossein Ashna from close range.

The home team, which planned to bridge the gap, received the fourth blow 20 minutes from time when Faraji rattled the net.

Advancing defender Ali Ansarian scored Persepolis consolation goal in the 74th minute.

Persepolis moves down to the eighth place with 21 points and Fajr is in the 10th place on 19 points.

The humiliating defeat prompted veteran manager Ali Parvin to announce his resignation immediately after the game.

Talking to reporters, former national captain said he would part company with the club and would never return.
