"The EU wants to continue this process of dialogue with us. Both EU and Iran are optimistic that negotiations will be successful," Mohammad Saeidi, vice-president for planning and international affairs of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), told IRNA in an interview in Brussels.
"It will be very good for European countries and for Iran. We can cooperate in the economic field and in promoting security and stability in the region," he said.
Saeidi accompanied Gholam-Reza Aqazadeh, vice-president of Iran and head of the AEOI, during a visit to the Belgian capital on Tuesday.
Talks between EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana and Aqazadeh focused on the process of negotiations between the EU Big 3 and Tehran on Iran's nuclear program and the need for objective guarantees.
"All the issues are under discussion. All the things are on the table," said Saeidi.
Briefing reporters on the meeting, Solana's spokesperson, Cristina Gallach, underlined the EU's willingness to continue the process of dialogue with the Islamic Republic.
"I want to underline the willingness of the EU to maintain the line of dialogue in good faith in order to reach conclusions," she said.
"Our nuclear program is an inalienable right and it is enshrined in the NPT and the right of every country. We should use this right in our country. Iran has a long-term peaceful nuclear program to generate electricity," Saeidi told IRNA.
In the meeting with Solana, Aqazadeh called for acceleration of the EU-Iran negotiations.
"Acceleration is necessary for both sides. We should move to resolve all of the issues very quickly because under EU and Iran agreement there is an item that says both sides should provide the results of their discussion in March," explained Saeidi.
The EU Big 3 -- Germany, France and Britain -- and Solana after talks with Hassan Rowhani, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, decided in January to form three working groups in the fields of nuclear energy, economy and security for closer cooperation.
The working groups have held two sessions till now and they will meet again in mid-February in Geneva.
A steering committee led by Hassan Rowhani and foreign ministers of the EU Big 3 will meet in mid-March to assess the outcome of their negotiations.
"It will be a very important meeting," stressed Saeidi.
