Weather Revolution in Iran

By Reza Azad, Tehran

As I am sitting here in our small apartment looking out watching the snow falling on icy streets of Tehran, I can recall that in the past 26 years since the Islamic Revolution this is first time that on 22nd Bahaman (10th February), the anniversary of the revolution, that the weather has not played along with the ruling class.

I can recall in old days when we had snow, rain and cold for days and suddenly on the anniversary day the weather would change, clouds would disappear and the sun would come out and brighten the day and the hearts of those who wish to take part in the celebrations, most often it would even become warm. This was amazing, I kept a tab for nearly 15 years and then I just gave that up, as nothing never changed

Yesterday I was laying a bet with my wife that tomorrow the weather would change for better, and all be the same as it has in the past 26 years. We could not believe it when we looked out and I found the sky dark and yes it was still snowing and only God knows if this could change things.

We are stuck in our home and yet I am sure that many will attend the rallies around the city and country, all those whose livelihoods depend on the strength and vitality of the system, even if by an unlikely chance you find any of them who still really believes in the "values" of the revolution. Who knows that maybe the Iranians hope of someone coming to their rescue is turned into something and this next stage may be remembered as the Weather Revolution!

Amen!
