Two aftershocks shake Zarand
Kerman, Feb 24, IRNA-Two aftershocks have occurred in the town of Zarand in this southeastern province until 19:00 hours local time on Thursday.

According to Tehran's Seismographic Base, the aftershocks measuring 3.6 and four on the Richter scale occurred at 12:09 and 13:15 local time. Some 43 aftershocks with magnitude of 3.5 on Richter scale were registered in Zarand from dawn Tuesday until Thursday evening at 19:00 local time.

A strong quake, measuring 6.4 on the open-ended Richter scale, struck the town of Zarand in southeastern Kerman province at 05:55 am (02:25 GMT) in early morning Tuesday, killing over 500 people and destroying more than 20 villages.

The epicenter of the quake was 60 kilometers (35 miles) northwest of the city of Kerman.
