Quake jolts Iran's northeastern city of Sabzevar

Tehran, Jan 4, IRNA -- An earthquake measuring 3.5 on the open-ended Richter scale shook the city of Sabzevar in the northeastern province of Razavi Khorassan Monday night.

According to the seismological base of Tehran University's Geophysics Institute, the tremor occurred at 22:13 hours local time (18.43 GMT).

There were no reports of any damage to property caused by the quake.

Iran is situated on some of the world's most active seismic faultlines and quakes of varying magnitudes are usual occurrences.
