Tehran, Jan 23, IRNA -- Gas injection from the fourth refinery of phases four and five of South Pars gas field development project into the national gas network started on Sunday.
The refinery of the fourth and fifth phases of the gas field has been completed and ready for operation.
A report released by South Pars Gas and Oil Public Relations Department put the final daily gas production target at two billion cubic feet equivalent to 50 million cubic meters, which will be injected into the national gas network after being refined.
It added that the installations of the fourth and fifth phases include inland and marine sections.
"The marine section will comprise 24 gas wells in two separate platforms each weighing 2,200 tons. Each well is expected to be 4,000 meters deep. Two billion cubic feet of gas is predicted to be extracted from the 24 wells, which will be transferred to the inland refinery.
"The inland section, which will include a refinery and a gas pipe line 56 inches in diameter and 67 kms long, will transfer the extracted gas to the gas network," added the report.
The two specified phases aim to meet the growing demand for gas in the domestic market and gradual rise in export.
The daily production capacity of the fourth and fifth phases is predicted at 50 million cubic meters of refined gas, 80,000 barrels of gas condensates and 400 tons of sulfur.
In addition, one million tons of ethane and 1.5 million tons of liquid gas are expected to be produced annually.
