Iran: Khamenei says impeachment of ministers not beneficial

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Tuesday stressed that the impeachment of ministers under present circumstances that the present government is going through the last months of its important mission would have no benefit for the country and the responsible organizations, IRNA reported from Tehran.

In a letter to Majlis Speaker Gholam Ali Haddad Adel, read by Majlis Vice-Speaker Mohammad Reza Bahonar, the leader said, "Thanks God, Majlis in its 7th term has succeeded to adopt a right direction by taking into consideration the demands of the country.

"Giving priority to people's basic and general demands over other motives and inclinations is an important position taken by the assembly which Majlis has accomplished and should pursue it in the future.

"On the issue of impeaching the honorable education minister, it is imperative for me to inform you and all esteemed MPs that the impeachment of ministers under current circumstances that the government is going through the last months of its important mission would have no benefit for the country and responsible organizations while its possible damage and risks are alarming."

"However, Majlis is duty-bound to use all its legal and supervisory means."
