Derakhshandeh added the young generation has offered the 23rd edition valuable films.

"The festival is a unique opportunity for competition among well-known filmmakers and young cinematographers," she said, adding the 10-day event helps Iranian cinema keep going.

Derakhshandeh, who is a member of the festival's Selection Board, voiced her satisfaction with diversity of films in this year's festival.

She termed as necessary the heed to local and national cinema in the festival, calling for more attention to such products.

Derakhshandeh, who is the director of "Small Bird of Happiness", "Love Without Border", and "A Candle in the Wind", referred to the economic aspects of the festival and said it will help the products make money in cinemas.

The festival is held annually during the Ten-Day Dawn (January 31-February 10) in Tehran.
