Tehran, Jan 31, IRNA -- An earthquake measuring 3.9 on the open-ended
Richter scale shook Kish island in the southern province of Hormuzgan
on Monday.
According to the seismological base of Tehran University's
Geophysics Institute, the tremor occurred at 10:28 hours local time
(0658 GMT).
There was no report of any damage to property caused by the quake.
An earthquake measuring 3.8 on the open-ended Richter scale jolted
the town of Qotour in the northwestern province of West Azarbaijan on
the same day.
According to the seismological base of Tehran University's
Geophysics Institute, the tremor occurred at 07:29 hours local time
(0359 GMT).
Iran is situated on some of the world's most active seismic fault
lines in which quakes of varying magnitudes are of usual occurrence.
