Tehran, July 2, IRNA-Head of Iran's Journalists Association Rajabali Mazrouei in a letter to Judiciary Chief Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi called for investigation of Akbar Ganji's case.
In his letter, a copy of which was submitted to IRNA on Saturday, he added that according to the latest reports, after a 20-day hunger strike Ganji is in a critical condition.
"Unfortunately, the efforts of the Association and other institutions towards improving his health have been of no use.
"Therefore, to overcome the present worries about his health and to ensure that his rights will be restored, I hope that proper grounds will be provided for a number of members of this Association to meet him and follow up the case," he added.
Mazrouei further hoped that the judicial officials in charge will notice the sensitivity of Ganji's case and that they would not allow the situation to get worse so that it would be irreparable.
