Tehran, July 5, IRNA-Iran's President-elect Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here on Monday that Tehran wants fair and progressive ties with all countries of the world including European states.
Addressing a group of lawmakers from northwestern provinces of the West and East Azarbaijan, Ahmadinejad said dissemination of "baseless" reports and information by certain Western circles, despite enjoying sophisticated intelligence and security apparatuses, is "questionable".
Ahmadinejad recommended Western states to correct their behaviors and stances in such a way that the Iranian nation's mentality would not be marred against them.
He said that despite all ugly conspiracies and behaviors of domestic ill-wishers and all hostile foreign powers and elements, the Iranian nation will go ahead with its wishes and demands.
He added that all the hegemonic powers and their advocates should respect the decision of the great Iranian nation.
The President-elect said the results of the presidential election demonstrated the free will and sovereignty of the Iranian nation and were a clear example of genuine democracy.
He said Western governments should offer a logical response to their contradictory stances and reactions.
"How can they (Western states) claim to be advocates of democracy and public votes while at the same time attacking a nation's democratic action which was the result of participation of 30 million people in the election?" asked Ahmadinejad.
He stressed that Islamic Iran will continue to make headway in the world as a prosperous country.
The salvation and prosperity of mankind is the explicit and irrevocable message of the Islamic Republic of Iran, said Ahmadinejad, adding that "the justice seeking government will concentrate all its efforts on expediting the country's reconstruction to attain a developed society.
He called for closer cooperation between the Majlis and the government and said speedy removal of problems and acceleration of the country's development and reconstruction will be the best response to the opponents of the Iranian nation.
