Tehran, July 9, IRNA-President Mohammad Khatami on Saturday presided over High Council for Iranian Expatriates Affairs.
President Khatami thanked setting up the high council and said that the council will work to help Iranian expatriates carry out different responsibilities.
He said that in the short period since establishment of secretariat of the high council for expatriates affairs, the body has been successful in its mission of helping the expatriates.
President Khatami said that he had assigned the executive body to responsibly deal with different affairs of the expatriates and good works have been done so far and the secretariat has currently undertaken the job.
He said Iranians living abroad are of high talent and have secured high status in the field of science and technology in the host countries.
"They love their homeland and they want to have relationship with Iran. The high council is expected to provide them with facilities to form relationship with Iran," President Khatami said.
"Iranian scientific, cultural, industrial and commercial centers would enjoy services of Iranian expatriates," Khatami said.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Kamal Kharrazi and Minister of Science, Research and Technology Jaafar Tofiqi were present in the meeting.
Ali Asghar Sherdoust will serve as secretary of the high council for Iranian Expatriates.
