Tehran, July 11, IRNA-Two separate earthquakes measuring 3.6 and 3.9 respectively on the open-ended Richter scale hit the cities of Qom and Tabas, southwest and southeast Tehran, during the past 24 hours, it was reported here Monday.
The seismological base of the Geophysics Institute, affiliated to Tehran University, said in a statement that the 3.6 magnitude tremble jolted suburbs of Qom, southwest of capital Tehran, at 05:28 hours local time (0058 GMT) Monday morning .
The quake was felt in an area at Qom outskirts, located in 34.80 latitude and 50.49 longitude, the base said.
It added that outskirts of Tabas in central province of Yazd were also jolted by an earlier earthquake at 18:17 hours local time Sunday evening (1347 GMT).
The tremble was felt in a region at Tabas suburbs, located in 33.66 latitude and 56.86 longitude.
There were no reports of damage to properties caused by the two trembles, said the base.
Quakes of varying magnitudes are of usual occurrence in Iran which lies on one of the world's most active seismic fault lines.
