Robotics Champions Crowned as RoboCup 2005 Osaka Comes to a Close

RoboCup 2005 Osaka competition comes to a close and the 2005 champions are determined during the day’s final events bringing an end to the largest robotics competition held in the world. While the 2005 games wrapped up its final matchs—RoboCup 2006 in Bremen, Germany was announced.

With final adjustments and strategies in place, the remaining teams took to the field Sunday morning (July 17) for the final matches of RoboCup 2005. Here are the top finishers:

Soccer

  • Small Sized: Fu-Fighters (German)
  • Middle Sized: EIGEN Keio Univ (Japan)
  • 4 Legged: German Team (German)
  • Humanoid 2-on-2: Team Osaka (Japan)
  • 2D Simulation: Brainstormers 2D (Germany)
  • 3D Simulation: Aria (Iran)

Rescue

  • Simulation: Impossibles (Iran)
  • Robot: Toin Pelican (Japan)

Junior

  • Soccer Primary: CYSEA Y.Y. (Japan),
    First Team of Parkway Primary School (China),
    Einstein (Taiwan)

In addition to the incredible exhibition of technology at RoboCup, the fantastic display of sportsmanship and camaraderie shown between the nearly 2000 participants from 31 different countries was also visible. Win or lose—many of the teams were already discussing their strategy for next year’s event!

RoboCup 2006 will make its first appearance in Germany coinciding with the 2006 World Cup. The 10th competition will be held June 14-20, 2006 at the Bremen Convention Center. More information on RoboCup 2006 can be found online at: www.robocup2006.org
