Iranian female student Maryam Kharazmi received this year's German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) award for her excellent academic achievements and remarkable social and inter-cultural engagements, IRNA reported from Berlin
The 25-year-old Kharazmi who is studying software technology at Esslingen's University of Applied Sciences (FHTE) in southern Germany, is to receive the top foreign student academic prize during a special ceremony at her university on July 29, FHTE announced in a press statement on Monday.
Studying in her sixth semester, Kharazmi has been tutoring math to fellow students since her second semester and has also volunteered to help out college freshmen and students at the vocational school.
Kharazmi who intends to return to Iran after her studies, stressed the "importance of her social engagement" at the university.
