Poem for Akbar Ganji: Stay

By Alireza Nouri Razavi

I read the article by Mr. Kam Zarrabi about Mr. Ganji (Akbar Ganji: Mandela or Hallaj?) which inspired me to write the poem below.

Stay

In the cold of night, they sold as day

In the house of chain, they had you stay

You decided, it is best, to starve away

You decided, your death, will show them the way

Sunken deep, by hateful deed

In their need, for endless greed

They cage you, until you heed

They rage you, until you bleed

When they sold, their love for lust

When they took, all that you trust

You decided, to let your pen rust

You decided, that exit is just

Proceeded to set your own rule

Conceived a new kind of duel

Take hunger, as a final tool

Save your soul, let the body cool

Witnessing this, outside your cage

With sorrow looking at the stage

Silent pen on a folded page

Takes me back to a darker age

This class needs, a roaring speech

Waves of light, to dance on this beach

Yearning mind, looks for you to reach

Pick the pen up, stay, and teach
