Vienna, June 16, IRNA-Iran on Thursday protested to International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) against a report the agency has provided on Iranian undertakings concerning safeguards agreement.
In a letter to the Canadian chairperson of the IAEA Board of Governors Ingrid Hall, Iran protested against what is called as "Iran's failure to abide by safeguards agreement" by the IAEA.
The letter acknowledged that Iran has never failed to submit a report on safeguards commitments in 2004 and made it clear that the IAEA should only concentrate on the year 2004 about safeguards agreement.
"The agency carried out a project to examine Iran's report which was beyond the limits of the safeguards agreement and Additional Protocol to Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) last year." The letter said the IAEA had then admitted that the project was conducted upon Iran's voluntary permission.
Iranian delegation to the Board of Governors has called on the IAEA secretariat in the letter to correct the documents upon which the report is based and to act more carefully in this regard in the future.
The letter has also extended Iran's felicitations to the IAEA chief Mohamed ElBaradei upon his re-election.
