Tehran, June 20, IRNA-Two Iranian reformist newspapers were banned from appearing on Monday after they published a letter by the presidential candidate Mehdi Karroubi to the Supreme Leader.
Karroubi's letter was addressed to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, alleging rigging in the irst round of the presidential elections held on June 17.
Eqbal and Aftab Yazd are the two dailies which were banned from publishing by Tehran Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor Saeed Mortazavi.
Managing Director of Eqbal newspaper Morteza Fallah told IRNA here Monday that the Tehran Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor Office had banned the daily from publishing because it contained Karroubi's letter to the Supreme Leader complaining some rigging in the elections.
He said the daily was also prevented from distributing in other cities around country on Monday.
Fallah also noted that the ban only applied to the Monday's issue and that the daily would be published on Tuesday.
