Inflation rate in Iran pegged at 13.1% annually

Tehran, Feb 28, IRNA -- Inflation rate in Iran rose to 13.1 percent in the ten months to the Iranian month of Dey (December 21, 2004-January 19, 2005).

The price index for consumer goods and services in urban areas (inflation index) rose by 16.5 percent in the first ten months of the year, compared to the corresponding month last year.

The index price for consumer goods and services rose by 1.9 percent after excluding seasonal fluctuations.

Central Bank of Iran (CBI) in a statistical report said that in the month of Dey, price indices for foodstuff rose by 4.2 percent and for industrial substances, except mineral fuels, by 0.5 percent, while the price of chemical and petrochemical substances declined by 0.8 percent in the week compared to the preceding week, according to the CBI.
