Tehran, March 25, IRNA-An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the open-ended Richter scale jolted suburbs of Shoushtar, a city in Iran's southwestern province of Khouzestan, on Friday afternoon.

The seismological base of Khouzestan province, affiliated to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, recorded the tremor at 17:18:59 local time (12:48:59 GMT).

There is no immediate report on possible damage.
