Hundreds of musicians from around the world are sending their audition tapes to meet the May 31st, 2005 deadline. Amongst all these contestants, the top five Instrumentalists and top five Vocalists will then be invited to perform at the finals in September of 2005 in Washington D.C. Two nights of hotel accommodation will be provided for all Finalists as they compete live for $5,000 in cash! In addition, the vocalist winner will be awarded an original song with lyrics by renowned song writer Paksima, music by the talented Nami, and a music video by the one and only Koji. This original song will be recorded at the famous Crystal Lake Studio in Los Angeles. The music video will be broadcasted on Iranian Satellite Stations internationally.
Due to overwhelming worldwide response, in addition to the option of sending in audition tapes, contestants will now have the option to showcase their talents at the LIVE Auditions in Los Angeles (May 15th - Crystal Lake Studio in Glendale, CA) and Washington DC. (May 29th - East Coast Music Camp in Bethesda, MD).
Given that one of the primary goals of this contest is to uphold the beauty of Persian music, it should be noted that all performances are limited to Persian Traditional, Folklore and Pop Music.
Ten of the most recognized and respected legends of Iranian music have been selected as Honorary Judges of the contest. They include the distinguished Persian Pop Icon Andy Madadian, Sadegh Nojooki, Attaollah Khorram, Hooshmand Aghili, Guity Adjoodani, Minoo Kashef, Dr. Hooshang Hodjati, Shahriar Saleh, Nader Majd, and Dr. Ali Analouei.
The Finals which will be on September 17th, 2005 will take place at the spectacular Schlesinger Concert Hall in Alexandria, Virginia (Washington DC). The memorable evening will consist of a live performance by the illustrious Pari Zangeneh, the delightful voice of radio celebrity Moloud Zehtab gracing the stage, as well guest appearances by the most recognized Iranians in the world.
The Star Musician of Iran is produced by twenty-four year old Iman Huschmand who also organized and produced the First Miss Iran Pageant in Washington DC in 2004. Huschmand received his Bachelor's of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Maryland, College Park and is currently completing his Master's Degree in Business Administration at the University of Maryland, University College.
