Tehran, May 27, IRNA-Iran and Japan reached an agreement on assessment of Tehran water installations and reinforcing it against earthquake.

According to a press release issued by the Public Relations Department of Tehran province Water and Sewage Company on Friday, the relevant agreement was signed between Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the provincial Water and Sewage Co.

The meeting, during which the document was inked, was attended by the managing director of Tehran province Water and Sewage Co, Sattar Mahmoudi, and a number of provincial municipal and governorate officials.

Speaking at the meeting, Sattari underlined the significance of the project on assessment of the provincial water installations and its reinforcement against earthquake.

He added that implementation of such a project requires full cooperation and coordination of all the relevant executive organizations.

Sattari said that reinforcing the provincial water supply network, water treatment installations, underground water reservoirs and water pumping station against earthquakes is one of the objectives of the signed agreement.

"The primary studies on the project expected to get underway is predicted to be completed by the end of 2006," he concluded.
