Mashhad, Razavi Khorasan, May 31, IRNA-An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale hit the town of Ferdows in the northeastern province of Razavi Khorasan on Tuesday.

Mashhad seismological center affiliated to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University recorded the tremor at 13:08 hours local time (08:38 GMT).

There has been no report of damage to life or property caused by the quake, the center added.

Iran is situated in one of the world's most active seismic fault lines and quakes of varying magnitudes are of usual occurrence.
