Beijing, Nov 8, IRNA-China's Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday Beijing has always called for settlement of Iran's nuclear case through diplomatic negotiation and within the framework of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and in responsible terms.
The foreign ministry made the remark in a written response to IRNA on the possibility of talks between Chinese President Hu Jintao and British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
China supports ontinuation of talks between the European Union (EU) and Iran to find a long-term solution to Tehran's nuclear issue, the ministry said.
It said resolution of the Iran nuclear issue through negotiations would be most effective in preserving and protecting the integrity of agreements such as the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) as well as regional peace and stability.
It voiced China's willingness to play a constructive role in the international community towards settling the nuclear case.
The Chinese president left Beijing for London Tuesday morning to hold talks with senior British officials on the issue.
It has been reported that the Iran nuclear issue will be discussed during Hu's meeting with Blair.
