No new proposal on table about Iran's nuclear program: Ivanov, Larijani

Tehran, Nov 12, IRNA-Iranian and Russian top security officials said on Saturday that there is no proposal on the table about Iranian nuclear program.

Iranian Secretary of Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Larijani and Russian Secretary of National Security Council Igor Ivanov told reporters that negotiations between the two officials focused on bilateral accords on Bushehr power plant and there is no any new proposal about Iranian nuclear program.

Press reports had attributed visit of Russian top security official to a new proposal from Washington and European Union (EU) that Iran had better launch fuel cycle plant in Russia rather than in national territory.

The press quoted unnamed western officials as saying that Iran had better fulfill the elementary stage of fuel cycle inside its territory and the sensitive section in Russia.

Ivanov said that the three-hour negotiations focused on bilateral accords and no new proposal was on the table.

He said that Russia is ready to contribute to constructive negotiations between Iran and the three European countries. Russia is willing to do its best in this respect.

"You should not pay attention to press reports, because, such proposals are just on the press with special attitude toward Iranian nuclear program," Larijani told reporters in joint press conference with Mr. Ivanov.

"Of course, I don't say that any proposal should not be considered. Because, it is a way of capacity building. But, don't think that such proposals are actual and they are not actually being considered in the diplomatic scene," Larijani said.

"What the western parties need to resolve the stand-off on Iranian nuclear program is that they should shift their attitude and behavior toward Iran. Because, there is no bargaining on establishment of power plant in line with Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and the Safeguards Agreement of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). So, the western parties should change their attitude rather than come up with proposals," Larijani said.

Ivanov said that Iranian nuclear case should be settled in the context of regulations of IAEA.

He said that Russia attaches importance about observance of NPT and the Russian government placed trust in Iran that national program aims for civilian utility.

Ivanov said that Russia would do its best to ease tension about Iranian nuclear program.

Ivanov said that Russia have security cooperation with Iran and Iran helped ease tension between Russia and Tajikistan so far.

The Russian top security official hoped that Iran would cooperate with Russia for regional security, international campaign against terrorism, anti-drug campaign, and campaign against organized crimes and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
