Tehran, Nov 15, IRNA-Ninety percent of TB patients are successfully treated in Iran and Health Ministry is making efforts to identify all patients afflicted with this disease in order to fully eradicate it, Minister of Health Kamran Baqeri Lankarani said on Tuesday.
Addressing the International Congress on Pulmonic Diseases, Special Care and TB on Tuesday, Lankarani said Iran is well prepared to control TB despite facing certain restrictions.
He said pilot studies have been completed for the purpose and likely problems can be solved through expansion of medicare system and rural insurance facilities.
Elsewhere in his address, Lankarani said more than eight million people are afflicted with TB throughout the world annually, of whom three million lose their lives.
Despite all the achievements made in the health and medicare sector, the spread of TB is at an alarming level due to growing trend of poverty, AIDS, and immigration, said Lankarani.
