Iran Film News: "Goodbye Ernesto" to be screened in U.S.

TEHRAN, Nov. 28 (Mehr News Agency) -- Iranian director Puyan Shahrokhi's documentary "Goodbye Ernesto" is currently being screened in the United States.

The film describes the humanitarian thoughts of Ernesto Che Guevara, the Argentine-born Cuban revolutionary leader who also fought in the Congo and Bolivia. The movie is scheduled to be shown in Washington, New Jersey, Chicago, and New York.

"Weeping Willow" wins prize at Damascus festival

TEHRAN -- Majid Majidi's "The Weeping Willow" has won the Special Jury Award at the 14th Damascus Film Festival (November 20-27). The movie previously won the Best Director and Audience Favorite awards at the 23rd Fajr International Film Festival in Tehran in February. Parviz Parastuii, Roya Teymurian, Afarin Abbasi, Sharareh Dowlatabadi, and Melika Aslani star in the film.

Iranian films awarded at Minsk filmfest

TEHRAN -- The Iranian movies "Military Drill" directed by Kazem Masumi and "Hayat" directed by Gholamreza Ramezani received awards at the 12th Minsk International Film Festival 'Listapad-2005', held from November 18 to 25 in the Republic of Belarus. In the festival's children's section, "Hayat" won the Best Director and Best Actress awards, and "Military Drill" received the Best Screenplay Award in the festival's adult section.
