Quake jolts Iran's northern provinces of Mazandaran and Golestan

Sari, Mazandaran Prov, Nov 29, IRNA-A relatively strong earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale hit certain areas of the northern provinces of Mazandaran and Golestan Tuesday morning.

According to the Sari Seismological Network affiliated to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the quake occurred at 09:32 hours local time (0602 GMT).

The quake's epicenter was located in Golestan province.

There are no reports of any casualty or damage to property.

Quakes of varying magnitudes often occur in Iran, which is situated on some of the world's most active seismic fault lines.
