Brussels, Oct 7, IRNA-Mrs. Cristina Gallach, spokesperson for EU High Representative for a common foreign and security policy Javeir Solana, Friday said that it was up to the EU to decide who will take part from the European side in negotiations with Iran .
''It is not for Iran to determine the composition of the EU delegation in the eventuality of resumption of talks,'' Gallach told IRNA in Brussels.
''This is the business of the European Union,'' added Gallach noting that the EU would like negotiations to resume with Iran.
Her comments came in reaction to an IRNA dispatch from Tehran yesterday saying that Iran will not invite Solana ''to next round of talks with France, Britain and Germany, an official close to Iranian negotiating team said on Thursday.''
''Iranian official asked not to be named said that Iran is not satisfied with Mr. Solana's negative attitude toward Iranian nuclear program and opted for not inviting him to the next round of talks with the three European states,'' said the IRNA dispatch.
The news has taken observers in Brussels by surprise as Solana is considered to be a main architect of EU's policy of engagement and dialogue with Iran.
The European Union's Council of Foreign Ministers has reaffirmed its support for a diplomatic solution to the Iran nuclear issue.
The Council meeting in Luxembourg, in a statement issued Monday afternoon, said the EU wants to resume talks with Iran on the basis of the Paris Agreement.
"It urges Iran to take this opportunity by implementing all the measures requested by the IAEA Board, including reinstating a full suspension of all fuel cycle activities,'' said the statement.
