Tehran, Oct 14, IRNA-An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale jolted suburbs of the southeastern city of Kerman at early hours on Friday.
The state Seismological Network, affiliated to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, recorded the tremor at 05:55 hours local time (0225 GMT) in western outskirts of the city.
The tremble was felt in an area measuring 30.21 degrees in latitude and 56.56 degrees in longitude.
There were no reports on possible damage to property.
Quakes of varying magnitudes often occur in Iran, which is situated on some of the world's most active seismic faultlines.
