Iran: Latest Ahvaz bomb injury figure raised to 86

Ahvaz, Khuzestan prov, Oct 16, IRNA-Deputy Head of 'Jondi Shapour' University Medical Science Department said in Ahvaz on Saturday that the latest figures in today's terrorist bomb blasts in the southern city of Ahvaz indicate 86 people were injured.

Hatam Boustani told IRNA that 56 people were released from hospitals after receiving treatment, adding that another 30 are being treated in several hospitals throughout the city.

He added that more people who are in shock are expected to check into hospitals.

Boustani said four people were killed saying that the identity of is not known yet.

He also said that several women and children are among the injured and are being treated.

Furthermore, two people are in critical condition and one has been under going surgery.

Initially it was reported that explosion of two hand-made bombs in Naderi street of Ahvaz at around 17:00 local time (13:30GMT) on Saturday killed 4 and wounded more than 70 people.

Political and disciplinary deputy of Ahvaz governor said the two explosive devices had been placed in two rubbish bins 50 meters away from each other. The second explosion happened 3 minutes after the first one.

Rahim Fazilat-pour said four cars, which had been parked in the street, were damaged badly and glasses of nearby buildings were broken.

The official added Naderi street has been cleaned up and investigation on the criminal act started immediately.
