Beijing, Oct 29, IRNA-Minister of Communication and Information Technology (CIT) Mohammad Soleymani on Saturday announced Iran's interest in transferring China's communication and telecommunication technology to Iran.
He told IRNA that Iran and China enjoy favorable relations in the domain of communication and telecommunication technology and declared that Iran has purchased telecommunication systems from China over the past years.
Turning to China's potentials in the sector, the minister said that Iran also has some capabilities in the field and urged that the potentials of both countries should be used to develop Iran's communication sector.
"Iran is intent on making use of the potentials of the eastern and western states in the field," he added.
The minister referred to the cooperation of the two countries on space and satellite projects and called for strengthening of mutual ties in the field of space sciences and technology.
Soleymani noted that Iran is currently cooperating with China on a small multi-purpose satellite project called SMMS.
"The main objective of the satellite is to conduct survey from long distance, parts of which have been designed by Iranian experts. A laboratory sample of the satellite has also been made," he added.
The minister hoped that Iranian-Chinese joint satellite would be launched in the coming years.
Soleymani and head of China's Space Organization in a meeting on Thursday discussed expansion of bilateral ties in the field of space sciences.
The CIT minister and his accompanying delegation arrived in the Chinese capital of Beijing on Thursday. During his four-day visit, the minister is scheduled to sign the letter of association and convention of the Asia and Pacific Space Cooperation Organization.
The convention was inked on Friday.
With its 50-year experience in the field of space and remarkable progress in satellite design, manufacture and launching, China has declared its readiness for cooperation with Iran in the field of satellites to be used for survey, research and meteorological purposes.
