Freedom House seeks Program Officer for its Middle East programs

Freedom House (based in Washington, D.C.) is an independent non-governmental organization that supports the expansion of freedom in the world. Freedom House functions as a catalyst for freedom through its analysis, advocacy and action. Freedom House seeks a Program Officer for its Middle East North Africa (MENA) programs.

Tasks will include: backstopping overseas projects, promoting and reporting on Freedom Houses MENA projects, responding to RFAs, interacting with RIGHTS Consortium members, and assisting the MENA Senior Program Manager with research, program design and implementation, financial management, fundraising and public relations.

The appropriate candidate should have experience with international human rights and rule of law issues; US govt funding sources and program management; strong research and writing skills; ability to read, write and speak English. Ability to read, write, and speak Arabic required; ability to speak, read, and write French and/or Farsi is also desired. Experience with the MENA region is a must. Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required; post-graduate degree preferred. Position is based in Washington, DC. Projects are located in new democracies and developing countries.
