Tehran, Sept 6, IRNA-Iran's electricity equipment exports are on the threshold of taking a leap from $1B to $10B, said a member of Electrical Equipment Manufacturers Syndicate of Iran Sunday.
Mahmoudian made the remark in a ceremony held to honor former oil minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh, the English-language daily Tehran Times wrote Tuesday.
He pointed at electricity industry's accomplishments and added that the country was a mere importer of power equipment and products before the imposed war, noted the daily.
However, at the moment, we are capable of supplying the required domestic electricity as well as manufacturing and exporting the related equipment in this field, Tehran Times quoted Mahmoudian as saying.
Iran is no longer politically dependent on other countries in electricity industry. Moreover, it is capable of competing with other industrial groups in regional and international markets while shooting for 10 billion dollar electricity equipment exports, he added.
This may not be achieved without coordination and unity of all available domestic powers, he concluded at the end of the ceremony.
