Tehran, 6 September 2005(CHN) -- Francesco Frangialli, secretary general of World Tourism Organization, is going to travel to Iran to attend the Sports Congress held by the Women's Sports Federations of Islamic Countries and to talk of sports tourism.
This congress which is to be held in Azadi Hotel, Tehran, on September 24 and 25, is aimed to discuss sports tourism and related issues.
"Sports tourism is one of the main themes to be discussed and is the subject of exchange of ideas at this congress, which is to be attended by Iranian and foreign experts including Francesco Frangialli, secretary general of WTO," said Habib Honary, secretary of the Sports Congress for the Women's Sports Federation of Islamic Countries.
Sports tourism for women in Iran and other Islamic countries in general and the role and status of women's sports in Islamic countries in particular are included in the agenda of the congress.
Women not being admitted into stadiums (even as spectators), which is turned into one of the key points in the restrictions held over women in Iran, is another issue to be discussed. Honary believes that some cultural prerequisites should be met and provided before women are admitted into stadiums.
Besides Iranian experts, experts and professionals from other countries, namely Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Britain, United States of America, and Switzerland, are participating at this congress.
