London, Sept 10, IRNA-Vice-President and Head of Iran's Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization Esfandiar Rahim Masha'ie in separate meetings with the British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw and Secretary of Culture Tessa Jowell in London on Friday examined ways of exapnsion of mutual ties and cultural cooperation.
Masha'ie is visiting London to attend the inaugural ceremony of the exhibition on artworks of Achaemenid era which opened at the British Museum on September 9.
For his part, Straw welcomed Iran's new government and referred to cultural collaboration between the two states as a complementary to other aspects of bilateral relations.
During the meeting, Straw and Mosha'ie reiterated the need for strengthening cultural ties and further cooperation for holding joint exhibition in Iran and overseas.
The Iranian vice-president briefed Jowell on the policies of Iran's new government and pointed out the priority given to by the government to broadening cultural cooperation with other nations.
He proposed the British secretary a project on establishment of an international association for safeguarding and presenting cultural and art works to provide the world nations with access to the relevant international facilities.
Masha'ie called on Jowell to pave the way for globalization by supporting his proposed project.
For his part, Jowell called for continuing cooperation with Iran in the field of culture and submitted preliminary proposals for training exchanges and providing researchers of culture, art and archaeology with opporunities for studies.
