Assalouyeh, Bushehr prov, July 13, IRNA-The Persian Gulf International Airport is to start operation in the Economic Energy Zone of Assalouyeh in southern province of Bushehr by February 2006, said a local official Tuesday.
The construction operations of the international airport has been launched since 2003 and a 75 percent physical progress has been achieved so far, Managing Director of the Imen Rah Engineering Company, Rahmatollah Hakimi told IRNA.
Following Imam Khomeini International Airport, the Persian Gulf International Airport in Assalouyeh would be the best well-equipped airport in Iran, he said.
According to the official, the Oil Ministry will allocate some 400 billion rials to the construction of the international airport at an area of 700 hectares.
The national economic hub, South Pars Economic Special Zone is the largest economic zone in the country, located near Assalouyeh area in the southern part of Bushehr province on the Persian Gulf.
