Shiraz, Fars Prov, Sept 19, IRNA-An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale hit the towns of Darab and Larestan in this southern province Monday.
Fars Seismography Network, affiliated to Tehran University Geophysics Institute, said the quake occurred at 10:43 hours local time (0613 GMT).
The report added the tremor was registered in an area located in 54.78 degrees longitude and 28.31 degrees latitude.
No reports have yet been available on possible damage to property.
Quakes of varying magnitudes are of usual occurrence in Iran, which lies on one of the world's most active seismic fault lines.
