Beijing, Sept 22, IRNA-China's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Qin Gang, on Thursday called for continued Iran-EU negotiations in order to solve the nuclear standoff within the framework of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
He told reporters in his weekly briefing in the Chinese capital of Beijing that the case should be settled diplomatically by technical expertise of the UN nuclear watchdog.
"China believes that Iran and EU trio are required to continue with talks on the issue until they come up with a solution acceptable to both sides." "It will be to the interest of the regional peace and stability and various countries to solve the issue through IAEA by diplomatic ways," he added.
Gang hoped that the relevant states will be more flexible in playing a constructive role to solve Iran's nuclear problem and added that his country will also do its best to the effect.
China and Russia, as two permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), India and the non-aligned movement member states represented in the IAEA Board of Governors are against UNSC referral of Iran.
