Tehran, Sept 26, IRNA-Iran breezed past Qatar 3-1 in its bid to take the fifth title of the 13th Asian Men's Volleyball Championship in Suphan Buri, Thailand, here Monday.

Iran set up Tuesday's match against the host country, Thailand, with a 25-12 25-23 23-25 25-18 victory over the Qatari side.

Thailand managed to beat underdog Australia.

Japan gave Iran a bitter pill to swallow with a straight-sets win over Australia Sunday, leading to a berth in the semifinals.

The crucial 25-13 25-19 25-22 victory helped the Group B-bound Japanese team edge past Iran on more winning sets as both sides and South Korea had five points each.

Nippon extended Australia's losing streak to book a semifinal spot alongside South Korea.
