Sari, Mazandaran Prov, Sept 26, IRNA-An earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale hit northeastern suburbs of Savadkouh in northern province of Mazandaran Monday morning.

Mazandaran Seismography Network, affiliated to Tehran University Geophysics Institute, recorded the quake at 04:27 hours local time (0057 GMT).

According to the report, the tremor was felt in an area measuring 53.30 degrees in longitude and 36.32 degrees in latitude.

There are no reports of any casualty or damage to property.

Quakes of varying magnitudes often occur in Iran, which is situated on some of the world's most active seismic faultlines.
