Beijing, Sept 27, IRNA-Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Qin Gang said in Beijing on Tuesday the Iran nuclear issue should be settled through dialogue and within the context of regulations of the UN nuclear watchdog.

Talking to reporters during his weekly press conference, Qin moreover said that talks between the three European states (Germany, France and Britain) and Iran should continue in order to find an appropriate solution to the issue.

The resolution passed by the International Atomic Energy Agency last week brought into focus the matter of whether the issue may be settled outside IAEA regulations, he said.

He added that voting in the IAEA governing board would not help achieve solidarity much less settle Iran's nuclear case, and noted that the resolution called for Iran's all-out cooperation with the agency by adopting more transparent measures and continuing negotiations.

The spokesman expressed hope Iran and Europe would resume talks with more flexibility.

China is ready to play an active and positive role in settling the Iran nuclear issue through negotiations and within IAEA regulations, he said.
