Tehran, April 6, IRNA-An earthquake measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale hit the port city of Khamir and nearby villages in the southern province of Hormuzgan early Thursday morning.
According to the seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the tremor occurred at 01:35 hours local time (22:05 GMT Wednesday).
The quake was felt in an area measuring 56.56 degrees in longitude and 27.13 degrees in latitude, the report added.
There have been no reports of any casualty or damage to property caused by the quake.
Iran is often hit by quakes of varying magnitudes as it sits on some of the world's most active seismic faultlines.
