Iran hopes to put Sina II into orbit in two years

TEHRAN, Apr. 10 (Mehr News Agency) -- Sanaye Eletronik-e Iran (Sairan Co.) has reached agreement with Iran's Aerospace Organization to sign a contract next month on the company's production of the nation's second satellite called Pars (Sina II). The satellite is expected to be put into orbit two years later.

"The contract will be signed next month and the satellite will be probably launched after two years," noted an official at Iran's telecommunications.

Iran's launching of the satellite Sina I in the year before, was highly acclaimed all over the world, said here on Monday, managing director of Sairan Ebrahim Mahmudzadeh.

"We also have on our agenda the production of new radar systems with the long and medium ranges for the Islamic Republic of Iran Armed Forces, the Persian service of IRNA quoted the official as saying.

In addition, the company is planning to overhaul the nation's communication systems and work on the safety of the military communications as well, noted the head of the telecommunications firm affiliated to the Defense Ministry.

Iran launched its Sina I satellite from a Russian rocket last year and said it would help the Islamic Republic's scientists better understand natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes.
