Tehran, April 17, IRNA-An earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale hit western suburbs of the port city of Bandar Abbas in the southern province of Hormuzgan Sunday evening.
According to the seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the tremor occurred at 19:18 hours local time (15:48 GMT).
The quake was registered in an area measuring 27.06 degrees in latitude and 55.74 degrees in longitude.
There have been no reports of any casualty or damage to property caused by the quake, added the report.
Iran is often hit by quakes of varying magnitudes as it sits on some of the world's most active seismic faultlines.
